More than $2,500 worth of items, including two black powder firearms, was stolen last Friday from a home on Douglas Lane in Nikiski.
The resident told Troopers the theft occurred sometime in the week leading up to March 20.
Megan Peters with AST tells us a number of thefts have recently been uncovered by Peninsula residents who kept their eyes open during gun sales…
Peters: “Really what it comes down to is the community being involved in its own safety and working with law enforcement to make their communities a better place. When we have citizens that are involved and they do keep a lookout, and not only that, they contact law enforcement when there’s something suspicious going on, it gives us the ability to respond to that and to get more information back on what’s happening.”
Anyone with information reference this burglary/theft is encouraged to call the Alaska State Troopers at the Soldotna Post: 907-262-4453. The investigation is ongoing.
