Republican State Senators say they expect the Governor to introduce a bill which would set the stage for LNG Project property taxes.
Revenue Commissioner Randall Hoffbeck says the legislation would build a framework for payments, so the partners and local governments know the variables which would be involved in calculating payments.
Walker said discussion have been going well so far…
Gov. Walker: “Very, very hopeful that the AK LNG is successful and we’re doing everything we can to make sure that is successful but if for any reason one of those four companies step away, we don’t want to be left without another option.”
The good news for local residents is that Walker intends for the pipeline to terminate in Nikiski, whether it’s the AK LNG or ASAP project…
Gov. Walker: “Well, obviously there won’t be two projects, there’ll be one project, but all the work’s already been done in that regard, so I don’t see any reason why if one fell away the other one wouldn’t jump right into its position and keep on hitting Nikiski.”
Governor Walker has already started addressing right-of-way access.
