The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank hosted their first ever Clash of the Culinary Kings Fundraiser last weekend.
Linda Swarner with the Food Bank said around 120 people attended and were able to participate in the new kind of entertainment.
Swarner: “People were having fun watching the chefs prepare their projects and then individuals got to sample hors d’oeuvres.”
While only a three judge panel was able to test the entrees put together by local chefs Dan Haag of the Flats Bistro, Steve England of Kenai Catering, and Paul Warner of aksupperclub.com, the attendees voted on the hors d’oeuvres.
Swarner: “Attendees voted with lima beans for the People’s Choice Award.”
The Porterhouse Grill won that award and Dan Haag won the competition.
Swarner said she does not yet have the final tally on how much was raised by the fundraiser but the food bank is definitely looking to do this kind of fundraiser again.
