The Kenai River Sportfishing Association will host two community meetings to answer questions about 2012 Chinook salmon fishery failure relief applications.

Ricky Gease with the Association…

Gease: “From 4pm to 6pm on Friday and from 10am to noon on Saturday at the Kenai River Center. If there were any businesses that were on the peninsula that had questions about their applications or thought that may qualify but hadn’t received an application, we were just going to provide some information from the Pacific States Marines Fishers Commission to local people here.”

The applications went out to qualified businesses in early March and the applications are due May 29.

This is the second round of fisheries disaster relief funds totaling around $13 million to assist Cook Inlet businesses affected by the 2012 disaster.

The Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission is in charge of coordinating, planning, and administering the disaster relief funds and Gease said the commission is the one to send out the applications.

Gease said there will be a short presentation about the program requirements on April 10 and 11 but is mostly set up for people who have questions about applications.
