Soldotna Board of Fish nominee Robert Ruffner will face the Senate Resources Committee today, which is expected to be his most challenging hurdle on the path to Legislative confirmation.

Kenai City Manager Rick Koch said he and Vice Mayor Brian Gabriel are traveling to Juneau with concerns that two specific legislators will oppose Ruffner’s nomination…

Koch: “I don’t have much of a relationship with Senator Wielechowski, but Senator Stoltze and I have known each other for a number of years and I’ve had conversations with Senator Stoltze regarding my support of Robert Ruffner and Senator Stoltze will make up his mind as he does, but just letting him know there are local governments here that are supportive of the Governor’s selection is important.”

Borough Mayor Mike Navarre and his Chief of Staff Paul Ostrander will also be in Juneau today and intend to add their support at the 3:30pm hearing.
