Veterans First Hiring Bill Passes House

The State of Alaska has had a hiring preference for veterans, but federal law currently prohibits private employers from doing the same unless the state passes a law allowing the preference.

 

The State House yesterday unanimously passed a  bill which would allow business owners to institute that preference for veterans.

 

The bill was sponsored by Rep. Chris Tuck of Anchorage and now goes to the Senate for consideration.
