Yesterday the Alaska Senate considered a bill establishing an Alaska children’s day in June, but an amendment to add Erin’s Law to that bill was denied on procedural grounds.
Senator Berta Gardner previously introduced one of four similar bill to formally require Alaskan schools to teach children about sexual assault…
Sen. Gardner: “Because when things are outside a child’s frame of reference, they don’t have a way to think about things let alone talk about them.”
Erin’s law passed the Alaska Senate unanimously last year. It passed the House but is still awaiting action in the Senate.
