Interior Energy Bill Passed

With a unanimous vote, the State Senate yesterday gave authority to finance a gas project for Interior Alaska.

 

The House must still agree with the new version, which doesn’t include the House bill’s financing for other energy projects.

 

An interior gas project was one of Governor Bill Walker’s “must-haves” for this session. It gives the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority approval to finance up to $275 million for an appropriate gas project. The plan must include the source of gas and the estimated cost of the project and the gas supplied to utilities. The project would also have to provide regular reports.
