Skilak Lake Road Partially Reopened

Skilak Lake Road has partially reopened after the Department of Transportation deemed it impassable to traffic.

Shannon McCarthy with the DOT said that the end closest to Sterling has reopened although a portion is still clearly marked off.

McCarthy: “So people will have access both the upper and the lower landings and then also access to Engineer Lake. The only portion on the other end that remains closed is the Hidden Lake area, which has some hiking trails in there and some nice camping areas. Our maintenance crews are investigating and surveying this afternoon and their aim is to reopen sometime tomorrow.”

The DOT recommends only 4×4 vehicles using the road.
