Trooper Thad Hamilton was on his way to an emergency call when a driver who took a wrong turn collided with the patrol car and both vehicles rolled into a ditch.
59-year-old Edmond Mallette Jr. missed his turn-off near mile 99 of the Sterling Highway right around 5:20pm and was attempting to turn his Oldsmobile SUV around in the roadway when he struck the Crown Victoria in the passenger side. Mallette says he didn’t see the oncoming vehicle, despite the emergency lights flashing on its roof.
Both vehicles were totaled and both drivers were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
