Tonight’s borough assembly agenda is packed full with topics like BlueCrest’s Cosmopolitan Unit, K-Beach Flooding, and the borough’s budget.

Larry Burgess with present on the BlueCrest project near Anchor Point which was recently approved for a $30 million financing package to pursue offshore development.

CEO Benjamin Johnson said the project plans to add 400 jobs along with an offshore facility.

Johnson: “The platforms are constructed elsewhere and they’re floated in, they’re brought in, and sunk into the sea. That will take about 3 or 4 months each. Once we set those up, we’ll probably have another 40 or 50 people. But then while we’re drilling the wells offshore, that’s where we’ll have at least 60 people at a time on the offshore jack up rig and we anticipate keeping that rig busy about 7 months a year.”

Mayor Mike Navarre’s report includes “K-Beach Area Water Table Observations” where the borough excavated several test holes on May 3.

A resolution is also up for introduction to recognize the K-Beach Highwater Drainage Task Force through support of the Department of Natural Resources decision to support the task force.

And finally, an ordinance up for public hearing would appropriate funds for Fiscal Year 2016. Testimony will be taken from Homer and Seward on this ordinance.

That meeting will begin at 6 pm in the Soldotna Borough Chambers.
