Today was the last day of school for students across the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District and Nikiski Students will graduate tonight.
Superintendent Sean Dusek said graduation rates have been rising in the district as well as student population.
Dusek: “In the Soldotna area in particular, we do see more kindergartners than we see graduates. And that just means that with more kids coming into the system, obviously that is a good trend to have. What we see, K-6 in the Soldotna area, there is higher numbers there than in the secondary levels so over the next few years you will see our secondary numbers grown and we hope to continue the trend of more kindergartners coming in to just keep our enrollment moving forward.”
The District has 8,800 students enrolled for the 2015 fall semester.
Nikiski High School is scheduled for 7 pm tonight(May 20) and Connections Home School will graduate in the Soldotna High Auditorium at 4 pm tomorrow night.
