While Alaska’s unemployment rate was lower last month than the same time last year, researchers say it’s difficult to find a stable trend.
Unemployment was 6.7 percent in April, higher than in March and lower than 2014. The rate has been fluctuating all year, just as it did in 2014. At the beginning of last year, the rate started at 6.9 percent, peaked at 7 percent and ended down at 6.4 percent.
Last month, the U.S. unemployment rate was well below Alaska’s rate at just 5.4 percent.
