The official Grand Opening of the new Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Visitor’s Center will be this Saturday, May 30.
Deputy Refuge Manager Steve Miller said the center has been open to the public since the beginning of May…
Miller: “Oh visitation has definitely gone up compared to what occurred in our old visitor’s center. There’s a lot more space, a lot more room, and we’ve got a lot more visitors to fill that space.”
Saturday’s celebrations will run from 1pm to 5pm…
Miller: “We’re going to have some refreshments during that time and then I believe we’re going to have a small cookout afterwards as well. Anybody is invited to attend, you can come any time during the day, but the events will be happening between 1 and 5.”
The new center boasts an environmentally conscious design and interactive displays. The doors are currently open seven days a week.
