The Seward Highway was reopened as of 11:15 pm according to the Anchorage Police Department.
Southbound traffic was reportedly being given priority over northbound traffic.
The highway was closed just after noon Friday because of an accident involving a Park Connection Motorcoach tour bus and at least five other vehicles, two of which were towing trailers.
According to Alaska State Troopers, initial investigation indicates the tour bus was headed northbound with 42 passengers when it struck another northbound vehicle which was waiting for cars to turn into the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.
Two patients were transported via Life Med to Anchorage for serious injuries.
Multiple others were transported via ambulances.
One man, 55-year-old John Zollner III of Anchorage was pronounced dead on scene.
His next of kin were on scene and notified.
