The winners of Soldotna’s first sealed bid land sale were notified Monday.
Director of Economic Development & Planning Stephanie Queen said she didn’t know what kind of interest the land sale would generate but this was very successful.
Queen: “There was a lot of interest and we did receive a qualifying bid for each of the six properties, in fact several of the properties had multiple bids.”
The city had acquired the six properties for various reasons over that past few years.
Queen: “Two of them were tax foreclosures that the previous owners are now not able to be contacted to redeem those properties. The remaining properties the city actually either purchased or traded for different uses that we no longer have a public purpose for.”
The bid amounts will be kept confidential until the pending sales of the parcels are finalized according to Queen.
Queen: “For any reason, if folks change their mind or if they’re not able to close within the timeline, if we have a backup bidder we’ll get in touch with them and hopefully be able to get these things sold.”
She said the prevalence of these sealed bid land sales will depend on the cities inventory of properties that need to be sold.
