Two people from Colorado were killed in the Kenai Spur Highway accident that closed down the highway Wednesday.
Alaska State Troopers wrote in a dispatch that 77-year-old Jerold Greer and 71-year-old Donna Greer were traveling northbound near Sport Lake Road in a white Ford F350 at 2:00 pm when their vehicle crossed into the southbound lane.
The Greer’s pickup was struck head-on by a class A motorhome driven by 71-year-old Charles Wiesneth of Florida.
Both Jerold and Donna Greer were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Charles and his passenger, 50-year-old Robin Wiesneth, were taken to Central Peninsula Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Both vehicles were totaled.
All occupants were wearing seatbelts.
Neither alcohol or drugs appear to be factors in the collision.
The accident remains under investigation.
