The high school football season advances into the third week of the regular season with all three central peninsula teams playing on the road on Saturday, including conference games for the Kenai Kardinals and Nikiski Bulldogs.

The Kenai Kardinals open Northern Lights Conference play in week three traveling to Kodiak to battle the Kodiak Bears. Following a week two bye, Kenai will feature a rushing attack which gained nearly 180 yards against Bartlett in week one. Kodiak looks to follow-up a 20-0 shutout of Eagle River with the Bears first home contest on Saturday.

The Soldotna Stars face their third-straight, Large School opponent traveling to Service High School for a non-divisional contest. SoHi stands at 2-0 on the season with victories over South Anchorage and Colony. The Stars Full-T offense has amassed over 800 rushing yards and has used eight different ball carriers. Service stands at 1-1 with a win over Wasilla and a 48-6 loss to West Anchorage.

The Bulldogs open Peninsula Conference play in Homer against the conference’s new member the Homer Mariners. Homer moves to the Small School division for 2015. The Bulldogs look to build on a 42-12 victory in week two at Barrow. Nikiski has a balanced attack with over 400 rushing yards and nearly 200 passing yards.
