A new traffic signal near Soldotna Creek Park is scheduled to be fully functional by mid-September.
Shannon McCarthy with the Department of Transportation said the last of the paving will be done at the intersection of Birch Street and the Sterling Highway tonight.
Previously she said the intersection was deemed necessary due to the increased traffic to the nearby park which caused drivers to make risky decisions to merge onto the highway.
