During his closing address at the Glacier Conference in Anchorage, U.S. President Barack Obama painted a bleak future if climate change action is not taken.

He says the science about climate change gets clearer every day while those who would like to ignore it get increasingly solitary.

The president says he came to speak at the Anchorage Conference on climate change as the leader of the world’s largest economy and its second largest carbon contributor emitter.

Obama warned that Alaska’s thawing permafrost and warmer waters threaten homes and livelihoods.

He ended his address with a call for Alaskans, Americans, and countries to work together.
