Seventeen Alaskans who donated to charities using Pick.Click.Give have been chosen to receive a check equal to this year’s $2,072 PFD. Two of those winners are Kenai Peninsula residents.

Program Manager Jason Grenn says this is the second year of the “Double Your Dividend” sweepstakes.

Grenn: “So that was a promotion that we did to kind of encourage and motivate people to contribute and actually share their name with the non-profit that they donated to. People were only eligible to win if they released their name so that non-profits knew who was contributing to them.”

Seward resident Lynn Hohl and Homer resident Michele Miller are two of the 17 winners who were randomly chosen from the 22,000 contributors who revealed their names.

Pick.Click.Give was founded six years ago and Grenn says this was a record breaking year of donations.

Grenn: “This year was bigger than ever and we were really excited about that. We had over 6% of Alaskans contribute to local charities.”

Those donations totaled $3.3 million given to 539 non-profits which specialize in pet rescue shelters to youth camps.
