Federal Energy Regulatory Commission representatives want to hear the public’s environmental concerns about the proposed Alaska LNG Project next Tuesday in Nikiski.
Larry Persily, the Special Oil and Gas Assistant to the borough mayor, says the AK LNG Project partners are still in the pre-file stage with the commission.
Persily: “They are working with federal regulators on putting together the data that federal regulators will need for a complete application but the project right now is targeting the third quarter of 2016 to submit that full application.”
The FERC representatives will be ready to hear from the public from 6 pm to 9 pm, Tuesday, October 27, at the Nikiski Recreation Center.
An Alaska LNG team will also be present for one hour before the FERC scoping meeting according to the federal notice.
The proposed project partners are working to prepare 13 resource reports as part of the application and Environmental Impact Statement process with FERC.
Those reports will cover current conditions to potential environmental impacts and emergency mitigation measures.

- Wetlands, rivers, streams, lakes, water uses and quality
- Fish, wildlife, vegetation and endangered species
- Cultural resources, archeology
- Socioeconomics, housing, jobs and government impacts
- Geological resources and hazards
- Soils, potential erosion
- Current land use, recreation, esthetics
- Air and noise impacts
- Project alternatives
- Pipeline system reliability, safety
- PCB contamination
- Engineering and design
