The Alaska Legislature is set to gavel into the third special session this year on Saturday, this time taking up the details of Nikiski’s AK LNG gasline Project.

Lawmakers are still waiting for Governor Bill Walker’s proposed bills and say they plan to hold their own committee meetings instead of taking part in the governor’s initial briefing on gasline issues.

The Alaska LNG Project says it is also waiting on particulars from the legislative session. Technical Manager Lydia Johnson…

Johnson: “We need to know the state’s role in the project so defining the role of TransCanada is really important to us. TransCanada has been a participant in the project, not only from a putting in money perspective but they’ve got a couple of people working on the project as well. So understanding the implications of that, for us the sooner the better is great. And then the other piece is our budget, so we’re looking for all of the parties to fund our 2016 forward activities and obviously the state has a share in that as well so those are the things that we need.

Governor Walker has previously said he is disappointed that a gas balancing agreement has not been signed. Project leaders say they need particulars on the state’s role to move forward.
