The Alaska Department of Transportation is planning a resurfacing project of the five-lane part of the Kenai Spur Highway that runs through Kenai next summer.

DOT Project Manager Morgan Merritt says the paving project will be from mile posts 8 to 12 of the Spur Highway.

Merritt will be presenting to the Kenai City Council on November 4 about two culvert replacements the DOT would like to add to the project.

One would be what is called Processor Creek.

The other is near Municipal Park called Ryan’s Creek.

Merritt says the addition of those replacements should not elongate the project’s time period.

The DOT is still finalizing coordination details between that project and increased traffic during the dipnet fishery.
