The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Thursday afternoon warning of slushy, wet snow Thursday night through Friday morning.
The western Kenai Peninsula, which includes Kenai and Soldotna, will see rain mix with low temperatures Thursday and then change to snow during the early morning hours Friday.
Drivers should plan ahead for new snow and slick conditions which will begin later tonight and continue through tomorrow morning as temperatures hover near freezing for an extended period.
The National Weather Service expects the Sterling Highway and surrounding roadways to see minor accumulation of the slushy snow.
