CES, Kenai Fire Responded to Smoldering Power Pole in Soldotna

Central Emergency Services and the Kenai Fire Department responded a little after 3 pm to a report of a smoldering power pole at the intersection of the Kenai Spur Highway and Marydale Avenue.

CES Captain Terry Bookey says first responders made sure the scene was safe while Homer Electric Association crews arrived.

Bookey: “We’re here to make sure that the pole doesn’t burn through, then lines fall down and we have to close the road.”

Witnesses reported there were small flames but the lines mostly appeared to smolder.

HEA’s Joe Gallagher says it appears a fuse was blown on that power pole. So far there have been no reports of outages in Soldotna.
