The SoHi swimming and diving team turned in outstanding performances at the 2015 ASAA State Swimming and Diving Championships held at the Bartlett Pool in Anchorage.
The SoHi boys combined for a third-place finish in the team scoring, behind strong swim performances and a place-winner in the diving.
The Dimond Lynx won both the boys and girls team titles.
State Swimming and Diving Highlights: Boys
SoHi’s Cody Watkins earned a pair of silver medals for individual performances and teamed for a bronze in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Watkins set a personal best en-route-to a second place in the 50 Freestyle event and set a personal best in a second place finish in the 100 Butterfly. Watkins joined David Hall, Jacob Hall and Jacob Creglow for a third place in the 400 Freestyle Relay. David Hall finished sixth in the 100 Freestyle and eighth in the 50 Freestyle; Jacob Hall placed third in the 500 Freestyle and fifth in the 200 Freestyle; Jacob Creglow added a fourth in the 200 IM and a fifth in the 100 Breaststroke; freshman Kylan Welch placed fifth in the 1M Diving.
State Swimming and Diving Highlights: Girls
SoHi’s Claire McElroy placed fourth in the 100 Breaststroke and Sydney Juliussen added a seventh place in the 50 Freestyle. McElroy, Juliussen, Rachel Davidson and Portia Pordilla placed fourth in the 200 Medley Relay. The SoHi girls also scored seventh place finishes in the 200 Freestyle Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay. Kenai’s Mikaela Pitsch scored an eighth in the 1M Diving.
