The Soldotna Stars hosted the Kenai Kardinals in high school wrestling on Tuesday, the contest filled with weight-class forfeits and six quality head-to-head matches. SoHi and Kenai split the six matches on the mat with each team recording three victories. The final team score: SoHi 59 – Kenai 29.
The feature match pitted Kenai’s Zach Koziczkowski and SoHi’s Dalton Best; Koziczkowski recording a pin in the 285 weight class. Kenai’s Keyshawn McEnerney, 160, recorded a technical fall over SoHi’s Emmanuel Van Hout and Kenai’s Paul Steffensen, 170, pinned SoHi’s Austin Schraeder. For the Stars, at 195 SoHi’s Paul Wilcox pinned Kenai’s Seth Kruse, SoHi’s Noah Schmelzenbach, 220, pinned Kenai’s Lucas Chitcop and at 98 pounds SoHi’s Logan Craig recorded a technical fall over Kenai’s Natalie Chavez.
