Alaska State Troopers arrested a 38-year-old Nikiski man last Friday after he falsely reported his girlfriend was in labor during a traffic stop, according to the online dispatch.

On November 13, just after midnight, troopers stopped a gold 1999 GMC Jimmy on the Kenai Spur Highway by Malaitna Ave in Nikiski for a moving violation.

Initial contact found the driver and sole occupant, Ronald Finch, was driving on a revoked operator’s license.

The report states Finch said he was driving because his girlfriend was in labor and it was an emergency.

Nikiski Fire Department responded to the residence she was reported to be in labor at but investigation revealed the girlfriend was not in labor and did not need medical attention at all.

Finch was arrested and transported to Wildwood Pretrial and then remanded on charges of driving while license revoked, driving in violation of a court order due to the vehicle not being equipped with an interlock ignition device and false report.

As of Monday morning, Finch was being held on $1,500.00 bail and his uninsured vehicle was impounded to JenWar Towing.
