Parks and Recreation Director Bob Frates said four conceptual designs for the total event space were discussed by committee members at their last meeting.

Frates: “When you’re looking at a project of this size, often times it makes more sense to go and break it up into phases so that’s really the next step right now is the committee sitting down and look at all its components in their totality. Naturally I think the stage is a pretty important priority for the event park so I think they will be looking pretty closely at the stage and what the stage looks like and the design of the stage and those costs.”

Kenai City Manager Rick Koch previously presented the first set of preliminary cost estimates for the space, calculating that the 20 by 30 foot stage might cost around $237,000.

The KOOL Committee will meet in the Kenai City Council Chambers at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, November 24.

The committee previously deemed Millennium Square as the preferred location and is slated to provide their recommendations for the event space in Kenai to the city council in January 2016.
