Rain alternating with low overnight temperatures is forecast through Thursday on the Kenai Peninsula.
Shannon McCarthy with the Alaska Department of Transportation says drivers should take caution during the morning and evening hours.
McCarthy: “Conditions are going to change rapidly from daytime to evening and if we have temperatures dip below 32 degrees we have ice forming because we’ve gotten all this rain and wet snow. So we just want people to be cautious and drive for conditions.”
She says those conditions can also impact how well drivers see each other.
McCarthy: “Sometimes headlights get grimy, not just covered with snow like we have when it’s colder but actual grime so they are not getting as much illumination. So just take a look at headlights and taillights to make sure those are cleaned off periodically.”
Intermittent mixed precipitation is forecast through Tuesday evening with a low of 34 degrees.
