Senator Peter Micciche is encouraging Kenai Peninsula residents to contact the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation before board members vote Friday, on whether or not to forward the next phase of the Alaska LNG Project.
Sen. Micciche: “So in order for this project to move forward what they’ll be voting on is essentially the funding for the next operational period. It takes a unanimous vote from all four members, the three producers and the State of Alaska, we’re partners in this together. We’re asking folks to consider contacting the AGDC Board and letting them know that we feel very strongly that this project should continue in its current format.”
He added that this is the first vote where the state has full control of its 25 percent share via AGDC since the TransCanada buyout was finalized on November 24.
That buyout was approved by the Alaskan legislature during a third special legislative session which began in October.
Sen. Micciche: “Senate Bill 3001 not only gave the authority to buy out TransCanada, part of the funding was for that purpose, there was also funding for our past work that was done in AK LNG and future work that will occur for studies that are going forward, studies related to upsizing the pipeline and other sorts of things.”
