Nikiski has been significantly changed by the Alaska LNG Project in the past year. Governor Bill Walker says residents there should be re- assured by the recent signings of the Gas Availability Agreements.
Gov. Walker: “We have not just reached another milestone, another decision gate but we’ve received something we’ve never had before.”
He went on to say that the project is still not guaranteed but this step forward has reduced one of the risks associated with this project.
Gov. Walker: “We obviously need to work with the market and we have been working with the market, sometimes the market has said are you sure the gas will be available for this project and now we’ll be able to say that with assurance.”
Walker says Nikiski residents should remain optimistic as this forward motion will help administration and legislators work more closely on the project.
