Former Miss Kansas and host of the Outdoor channel’s show “Limitless with Theresa Vail” has been charged with illegally shooting an Alaska grizzly bear and attempting to cover up the violation.
Alaska State Troopers say 25-year-old Theresa Vail and her two hunting guides are charged with misdemeanors.
While filming her show near Timber Creek, south of Holy Cross, in May, Vail allegedly shot a male grizzly and in her haste to kill the animal, also shot a nearby sow.
The show’s film crew reported the crime to Alaska Wildlife Troopers.
Troopers say master guide Michael Renfro and assistant guide Joseph Miller conspired to conceal the incident by obtaining a second bear tag and submitting wrong information to game authorities.
Renfro’s attorney Myron Angstman says the accidental shooting of the second bear is unfortunate and everyone involved has cooperated with the authorities.
