The top two seeds into the Top of the World Series for the Alaska Baseball League are out!
The Mat-Su Miners, #1 seed with a 30-10 regular season record, were eliminated in the best of three series against the #4 Anchorage Bucs (16-24) dropping the decisive game three 13-3 at Herman Brothers Field in Palmer. The Miners took game one 5-4, fell in game two 4-1 and the Bucs clamed the series with a game three 13-3 victory.
The Anchorage Pilots (20-20 and #3 seed) swept the Chugiak -Eagle River Chinooks in two games to advance to the Top of the World Series final pairing. The Chinooks were the #2 seed with a 22-18 regular season record. The Pilots won game one 4-1 and game two 4-3.
The Top of the World Series opens the final best of three series with the Pilots and Bucs playing Monday, August 2nd at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage. The Pilots and Bucs will each enjoy home-field for the series which continues Tuesday and, if necessary, Wednesday in Anchorage.
