ABL To Hold Meetings On Alaska Baseball League Summer Season

The Alaska Baseball League has scheduled league meetings for Friday, May 1st and Friday, May 15th to discuss future of the 2020 Alaska Baseball League summer baseball season.

 

Chris Beck, general manager of the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks and 2020 ABL president, stated,  “Right now the league is continuing to monitor the situation. We (ABL) have meetings scheduled for this Friday and again on May 15th. Our heart is to play this summer, but it will look different either in a season that is pushed back or not at all. The health of everyone involved is our main concern”.

 

The Peninsula Oilers removed itself from the 2020 ABL season in mid-March listing concerns for the health and well-being of fans, customers, host families, team and community; and concerns on the financial impact on the community.

The Alaska Baseball League consists of five, independent teams which are collectively joined, but exist as autonomous organizations.  Rosters consist of college-eligible players and with the postponement of collegiate spring sports (including baseball); more, major changes can be expected for the 2020 Alaska Baseball League season.

 

The Cape Cod Baseball League has cancelled the 2020 season and the Northwoods Baseball League has moved its scheduled start date from May 26th (if there is summer baseball).
