A multi-vehicle accident slowed traffic on the Kenai Spur Highway near Strawberry Road earlier this afternoon.
Kenai Police Chief Gus Sandahl said a report of the accident was received at 1:44 pm this afternoon.
Chief Sandahl: “Kenai Police and Kenai medics responded, there were three vehicles involved in the crash, all of them involved in a rear-end collision. The lead vehicle was stopped on the Spur Highway, Soldotna-bound and was waiting to turn left onto Silver Salmon Drive and the two trailing vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision as well as the lead vehicle which was waiting to turn left.”
He said only one driver was transported by medic to the hospital for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
Emergency responders kept traffic moving slowly through the area but the Kenai Spur Highway was closed periodically while tow trucks cleared the vehicles.
Investigation into the accident continues.

KSRM listener Ethan gave the details of what he saw when he drove past.
Ethan: “It’s on the Spur Highway next to Silver Salmon Drive and it looks like a motor home rear-ended an SUV, creating traffic delays in both directions.”
Ethan said emergency responders are allowing traffic to pass the scene of the accident, one lane at a time, alternating north and south bound lanes.
