A two-vehicle accident temporarily closed part of the Sterling Highway near milepost 89 past Verba’s Wednesday afternoon.
Central Emergency Services Captain Reed Quinton says they were dispatched to the accident around 3:15 pm.
Capt. Quinton: “CES responded to a report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision and when we got on scene we had multiple patients and three people were transported to Central Peninsula Hospital.”
Quinton said the accident involved two pickup trucks but had few other details. He could not say whether any injuries were life-threatening.
Alaska State Troopers said originally that the road was only closed temporarily in order to move one of the vehicles involved out of the traffic lanes.

An accident just past Verba’s in Sterling has partially blocked the Sterling Highway according to reports from drivers.
A woman who passed by said the accident was partially blocking northboud traffic headed to Anchorage and authorities are directing traffic via one lane.
A dispatcher for the Alaska State Troopers says the road has only been closed temporarily to remove a vehicle from the accident with a tow truck and should reopen shortly.
