Alaska Communications Services has recently had multiple reports of cell phone text message scams.
Executive Director of Communications Hannah Blankenship said they are working to resolve the issue.
Blankenship: “These kind of text messages and emails are being reported more commonly by customers of all carriers and at Alaska Communications whenever we get wind of this kind of apparent scam we strive to let our customers know as soon as possible.”
Blankenship said that customers should not reply to any sort of unsolicited text asking for customers personal information.
Blankenship: “Alaska Communications carefully guards our customers’ privacy and will never sell or release individual account information. So if a customer does receive a text or email like this we encourage you to send it to Christine@acsalaska.com.”
Some of the texts have indicated that the cell user or cell phone number has won prize money.
