The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is searching for a new Commissioner.
Glenn Haight with the department detailed what is being looked for in the applications of qualified candidates.
Haight: “There looking for individuals who are well rounded in fish and game management, it’s hard to know everything out there but certainly individuals will have a pretty good grasp of how the department functions and the processes behind it.”
Applicants must provide 1) a letter of interest with statements of resource management philosophy and personnel management philosophy, 2) resume, and 3) three professional references.
Haight: “Well the commissioner gets involved a lot of important things, they will sit at the board of fish the board of game, they’ll also serve on the north pacific fisheries management council and of course serve as chief advisor and cabinet member to the governor.”
Haight said originally the department only had the recruitment timeline open for applications until this Friday, December 12, but extended it until 5:00 pm Monday, December 22.
