ADF&G Stocking Plans Open for Public Comment

Author: KSRM News Desk |

Public comment is open for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Sport Fish’s statewide fish stocking plan.

Stocking Coordinator Andrew Garry said it looks at the number of fish going into lakes across the state.

Garry: “So the statewide stocking plan is a 5 year stocking plan that guides our production from the sports fish hatcheries, basically it’s a draft that outlines the different area management plans and the stocking numbers within those areas of management.”

That plan for the southcentral Alaska or Region II goes over a number of lakes where arctic grayling, arctic charr, Chinook salmon, coho salmon, lake trout, and rainbow trout will be stocked.

Garry: “We’re open to any questions whether its number of fished stocked or what species or proposals maybe for other lakes that people would maybe like to see stocked but aren’t stocked currently. Those are all evaluations that we take into consideration during the comment period.”

Public comment is open until January 23, 2015 and can be submitted through emailing Garry at [email protected] or contacting him at:
