Over at the Soldotna City Hall polling location, a majority of the voters polled were in favor of incumbent U.S. Senator Mark Begich.
“That would be Mark Begich, he’s my man, I like what he’s doing, he’s not a republican but it doesn’t matter to me I think he’s the best man for the job.”
“I’m hoping Mark Begich gets re-elected to senate, he seems like he is a lot more involved with the issues of our state as far as he’s really in touch with our rural communities.”
And as with the Kenai Mall location we covered earlier this morning, many voters credited ballot measure one as a main reason for coming out to vote.
“I think that we should vote yes on it, I think if we’re going to take our natural resources from the state that we live in, I think these corporations should pay for it, I don’t think they should get the tax breaks they’ve been getting.”
“I don’t think the oil companies need a break, it may hurt the economy for a while but I voted yes on one because if you read the bill and actually see what it says, it’s a big give away giving them more incentives and I don’t think they need that and I think they know it.”
“After looking at both sides, I weighed them and I decided that what they got going is working pretty good and we should leave it alone.”
