AK-ARPA Business Relief Program Application Deadline Is Friday

The deadline for the round two application period for the Alaska ARPA Business Relief Program is approaching. By 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15th, applicants will need to have all of their information submitted. The Alaska State Legislature appropriated $90 million from the American Rescue Plan Act COVID State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds toward a tourism and business relief grant program to be administered by the Alaska DCCED. According to last report, $34 million remains to be distributed under the second round of the program.

 

KPEDD’s Executive Director, Tim Dillon, told KSRM:

“April 15th the Alaska ARPA Business Relief Program closes. This is Round 2 of ARPA Business Relief and people can just go to the state’s website for the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development in order to be able to find out if they qualify, but that closes on April 15th, but it’s just Alaska ARPA Business Relief Program. This is the second round of funding they have and it’s a lot different than Alaska CARES, I’ll tell you that right off the bat. It’s a little bit more complicated, but if somebody needs help, they can always give me a call here at KPEDD at (907) 283-3335. Remember, the portal closes on the 15th.”

 

Unlike the AK CARES program, the AK-ARPA grants will not be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligible businesses have a 30-day window to apply. Review of applications will begin immediately upon receipt. Grants will not be awarded until the end of the application period and after all applications have been reviewed, and any appeals have been resolved. Other grants received by individual applicants will be factored into the calculation of the grant amount. Revenue eligibility has changed from net revenue to gross revenue for Round Two.

 

To be eligible, businesses must have filed their 2019 and 2020 taxes and must have held an active State Business License as of January 1, 2021, unless exempt under state statute. Businesses must also be able to demonstrate a 50% or greater loss in gross revenue.
