Goodwill Industries of Alaska will join the community to provide assistance for individuals affected by the devastating wildfires in California.
Beginning Thursday, Jan. 16, and running through Wednesday, Jan. 22, Goodwill will conduct a Round Up campaign for the American Red Cross and donate contributions made at any of the stores located in Anchorage and Wasilla.
Individuals can contribute by rounding up their purchases or simply walking in and donating at any register.
Red Cross CEO Priscilla Fuentes says the American Red Cross has been busy deploying responders to disasters nationwide, including the devastating fires in California.
They are grateful for partners like Goodwill, who help them provide the best service delivery.
Fuentes says, “Financial donations truly are the best way to support people experiencing a disaster because their needs are unique and can change at a moment’s notice and that by contributing financial donation, you are allowing the Red Cross to put that donation to work where it’s needed most.”
A donation to Goodwill will help with relief supplies like cots, blankets, lost prescription medications, and meals and snacks.
This also applies to some stores in Oregon.
A spokesperson for Goodwill, Libby Steffen-Schafermeyer, says, “We hope the donation of funds raised by our generous communities in Oregon and Alaska will assist the Red Cross Cascades Region with meeting the immediate needs of those affected.”
