As the State moves forward with the Alaska LNG Project, local residents and utilities want to know what share of the gas will be kept for local use and how much will be shipped to overseas markets in Asia.
Paul Decker, Acting Director of the Division of Oil and Gas, said that’s still to be determined…
Decker: “They envision a handful, maybe six or eight, off-take points from the AK LNG pipeline where that gas could flow to in-state markets, but there’s still a lot of work being done right now by the project design committee and the team within state government to strike that balance of how much North Slope gas should feed those in-state markets versus how much Cook Inlet gas can do that.”
Blue Crest also announced recently they’re working with WesPac to explore the potential of a smaller LNG facility in Point MacKenzie, which would draw on gas form the Cosmopolitan Unit near Anchor Point and package LNG in smaller amounts for local use.
