Al Howard Shootout Basketball Tournament Opens With Wins For Ninilchik Boys & SoHi Girls

The 2022 Al Howard Shootout Basketball Tournament, hosted at Soldotna High School, open the three-day, round-robin format basketball tournament with four games on Thursday.

 

The girls bracket includes the host Soldotna Stars, Kenai Kardinals, Palmer Moose and the South Anchorage Wolverines.  The Kenai girls representing 3A basketball with SoHi, Palmer and South all from 4A basketball.

The boys bracket has been revised to include host SoHi, Kenai, Ninilchik (2 games), and Homer (1 game).  The Stars are the lone 4A program; Ninilchik represents 2A basketball having opted-up from 1A basketball.

 

Opening Round Results

Palmer Girls 43 -Kenai Girls 29   Kenai’s Emma Beck scored 15 points.

Ninilchik Boys 65 – Kenai Boys 44  Wolverines’ Lukah Kalugin scored 17 and Landon Colburn scored 16: Kenai’s Jakob Kvasnikoff scored 13 for the Kardinals.

SoHi Girls 50 – South Anchorage Girls 43  Ellie Burns scored 15 points for the Stars

Homer Boys 63 – SoHi Boys 56  Ethan Sewell scored 19 for the Stars
