Alaska Communications Systems Back Online After Large Outage

All wireless services through Alaska Communications are now online and functioning properly following an outage earlier today.

Alaska Communications Systems was addressing an issue at a shared carrier facility that was impacting ACS, AT&T and GCI customers across the peninsula this morning.

We spoke with ACS Director of Corporate Communications Heather Cavanaugh who said everything is back online.

Cavanaugh: “All services are back up and running as of 10:50 am this morning. So we’re looking into the root cause of the outage, its shared equipment that all of the wireless carriers on the Kenai Peninsula share, it was just an equipment failure.”

Reports say Verizon and GCI services were also affected during this outage.
