The first-ever Alaska Cyclocross State Championships, featuring racing in eight divisions including women’s, men’s, and youth, were contested on the Tsalteshi Trails on Saturday.

Anchorage racers Will Ross and Kate Ginsbach raced to victories in the Men’s Elite and Women’s Elite events.

The Cyclocross format is based on number of laps completed in a set time period.  The Tsalteshi course for the championships was laid-out at 2.2 miles per lap.  Ross posted the most laps in the fastest time of the entire competition with a  total of six laps in 55 minutes and 22 seconds.

Kenai’s Jim Hall posted the fastest U-18 finish by completing three laps in 33:36.
