The Alaska Department of Conservation’s Food Safety and Sanitation Program has issued several food recalls within the last week, particularly five because of a possible Listeria contamination. The Program also expanded a recall announced in April due to chicken being contaminated with extraneous materials.
The recalls due to possible contamination by Listeria include Simple Truth Organic Mixed Vegetables; Twin City Foods’ Central Market Organic Peas and Mixed Vegetables, HEB Organic Mixed Vegetables, Sweetfrost Mixed Vegetables, and Woodstock Organic Mixed Vegetables; Stahlbush Island Farms’ IQF Green Bean retail packages; and a variety of frozen products from chicken fried rice to vegetables by Ajinomoto Windsor, Inc.
No customer illnesses have been reported to be associated with those recalls.
The DEC also issued an expansion to a chicken recall in Alaska announced April 26 due to frozen products being potentially contaminated with materials like plastic, wood, rubber, and metal.
Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. is now recalling over five million pounds of fully cooked chicken from freezer sections.
The DEC says no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products has been reported.
