The Alaska State Legislature adjourned their five day extended session around 3:00 pm this afternoon.

House Speaker Mike Chenault (R) summarized this year’s progress.

Rep. Chenault: “Just for the record I’m not sure on the total number of bills introduced, three hundred and at least eighty four, 387 I think, on the House side I don’t know how many on the Senate side but what I can tell you this is probably within one or two, 68 House bills passed this year; 46 Senate Bills passed this year; 19 resolutions in each body passed each year.”

Chenault added that last year only 73 bills made it past.

Senate Minority Leader Hollis French also went over some victories of this session.

French: “We have four huge victories and I’ll just shout them out and I think folks can amplify them. We stopped vouchers, we stopped the court packing plan, we stopped HB 77 the silence Alaskans plan and we stopped a deeply cynical minimum wage bill. And I think that’s something that we can all go woah! Because that was awesome.”
